Get ready for veganuary

Veganuary is almost here.

Veganuary is an annual challenge that promotes and educates about veganism by encouraging people to follow a vegan lifestyle for the month of January. Since the event began in 2014, participation has more than doubled each year.

How about a few eye-opening facts and figures? In 2020, 400,000 people signed up for the challenge. That represented the carbon dioxide equivalent of 450,000 airplane flights. Think about that when you don’t think you can make a difference to the health of the planet. That 400,000 number rose to half a million in 2021 and this year’s number is expected to approach 600,000.

Over 1/3 of all Americans say they plan to eat more plant-based foods in 2022 and products like our Asanté Barbacoa, Cochinita Pibil, Pastor and our new Filet Asada are here to help, not only in Veganuary but throughout the year.

So why are some people hesitant to go plant-based? The top two concerns are a perceived inability to stick with a vegan diet, and affordability. At Asanté all our products are shelf-stable, which means they don’t need refrigeration or freezing and are ready right out of the pack. Talk about a convenient way to stick to the plan!

Also, we make it deliciously easy to stick to a vegan diet because we don’t just sell one product. Our full line of foods means that you can prepare a wide array of authentic Mexican dishes with our four heat-and-eat products. As for affordability, all our products come in four serving packages and are loaded with protein (40-48 grams per pack). Four different dishes in one package? Now that’s affordable.

Now is the time to go vegan for Veganuary or, if you already are, to help a friend or family member take the challenge. On behalf of their health, the health of the planet, and our animals friends, they’ll thank you.
