Going vegan for lent

Going vegan for lent

Last week was the official start of the Christian season of Lent, a period of fasting and reflection, when believers often start a new discipline or give up something that is distracting them from their spiritual life.

That makes it the perfect time to start a vegan practice, according to Eco Watch and In Defense of Animals’ Interfaith Vegan Coalition. For the first time, the coalition has pooled all of the resources of its member organizations to support potentially millions of Christians around the world.

While statistics on how many of the world’s Christians go vegan for Lent is difficult to ascertain, the number is significant and is expected to increase in 2022.

Here at Asanté we agree that going vegan for Lent can have a profound effect on the world. When you switch to a plant-based lifestyle for Lent you save lives, fight poverty, curb climate change and allow yourself to feel like you are actually making a difference in the world.
