When eating mexican, opt for the healthy choice
Mexican food is one of the most delicious, hearty foods on the planet and has risen in popularity to the point where it is now the second most popular cuisine in America, and #1 for the states west of the Mississippi. However, there’s no denying that many Mexican dishes are unhealthy, loaded with fat and calories.
Here’s a scary bit of information, a recent article in WebMD states that “you can get more than a day’s worth of calories, saturated fat or sodium in just a single meal.” What to do when you want the authentic tastes from our neighbors to the south but don’t want to break the health bank doing so?
Here at Asanté, providing delicious, authentic flavors and dishes from Mexico for our customers has always been of the utmost importance. And the best thing about it is our products replicate those tastes without the fat and calories. All of our Asanté foods are made from wholesome ingredients that are locally grown in Mexico and crafted from traditional Mexican recipes.
According to Nutritionix, one serving of meat Barbacoa, for example, has 219 calories and 60 calories from fat. Our Asanté Barbacoa has a mere 140 calories and that includes the delicious Mexican sauce that our Barbacoa is served with. And as for unhealthy cholesterol, meat Barbacoa contains 107mg while ours contain zero, yes zero.
Healthy for the planet and healthy for you. That’s our mantra at Asanté.
